Family of the Year
He has served as Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President of our shul. He has also chaired the membership committee for many years and put his heart and soul into the Yom Hashoa committee which he Co-Chaired for 20+ years. His list of administrative accomplishments is extensive. He established the vibrant and growing Young Families minyan and as well as the shul greeters program, lead the remodeling of the Ira Goldschmiedt Youth Wing, the shul back yard renovation, and modernization of the shul Beit Midrash. He introduced the Shabbos with the Stars program, the Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur explanatory minyan, the new toddler group, and the new collegiate/post-collegiate program. We also have to thank him for his leadership in securing the Homeland Security grant and upgrading security measures for the physical plant.
She became involved in the Young Israel Sisterhood shortly after moving to West Hempstead, working on numerous projects including fundraising and Mishloach Manot, eventually serving as the Sisterhood Corresponding Secretary, Vice President, and Co-President. She also gave of her time to volunteer in various capacities for Amit, Emunah, and the HANC PTA. As her parents were founders of the Young Israel of Queens Valley, with their shul being the center of their lives, she chose to follow in their footsteps by devoting herself to our shul. We are truly grateful for her choice.
This powerhouse couple has been married for 31 years and are proud of their 2 daughters, Ariella, along with husband Pinchas and grandson Dovi, and Lila.
It is our honor to present this year’s Family of the Year award to…

Sisterhood Aishet Chayil
This year’s Sisterhood Aishet Chayil awardee was born and raised in West Hempstead as an Isseroff. Because she loved the community and the Young Israel so much, she couldn’t imagine raising her own family anywhere else. It was a natural progression for her to go from being a youth member in the Young Israel to giving back to the shul as an adult. She began by running the Sisterhood Hospitality Committee for four years, and has organized two successful Shabbatons for families looking to learn more about the neighborhood.
