About Our Youth Director
Yosef Aryeh has been the youth director at the Young Israel of West Hempstead since September 2000.
Yosef is a graduate of Yeshiva University who was an assistant youth director and youth director
at Congregation Knesseth Israel and Congregation Shaarei Tefilah before coming to West Hempstead.
Under Yosef’s auspices, the YIWH Youth Department has expanded religious and recreational
activities for children in Nursery through 12th grade.
Shabbos Morning Groups
Shabbos morning groups enable the youth of West Hempstead to enjoy interactive, age-appropriate
activities, while learning the Shabbos morning davening. Jr. High School and High School
students lead the Shabbos programming and participate in all special events. In addition, we have
special minyanim to cater to the pre-teen population, as well as a teen minyan, which provides
an opportunity for the children to participate in all aspects of the minyan davening.
Youth groups take place every Shabbos in the Youth Wing and across the street in HANC.
