Israel Terror Victims Appeal

In response to the wave of horrific terrorist attacks in Israel that have killed and injured dozens of people, the Outside Appeals and Jewish Action Committees have launched a campaign to adopt 2 families who have been devastated by the murder of their husband and father.  Information on these families can be found below.

This past Shabbos, Nov 21, the Young Israel made an Appeal for funds to be sent directly to these families. If you made a pledge or would like to donate, please complete the form below.  If you choose to send in a check, please write "Israel Terror Victims Appeal" on the memo line.

Further information about the plans to continue to support these families financially and emotionally, will be sent out soon.

Lavi Family
Rabbi Nechemia Lavi, 41 served as an officer in the Israeli Army as he considered this a mitzvah and an honor. Rav Nechemia was a Rebbe at Yeshivat Ateret Yerushalayim in the Old City of Jerusalem. On Shabbas Chol Hamoed Sukkot, minutes before leaving his home to go daven at the Kotel, Rav Nechemia heard a commotion. Someone was being attacked. He instinctively ran to help, putting his own life in danger. The terrorist turned and attacked him. He saved a woman and her baby but his life was taken. His tragic death on the way to save an innocent Jewish family who were being attacked, is obviously something we can all admire, but we can also learn so much from the way he lived. Rav Nechemia was married to his amazing wife Neta who is also a teacher. They have 7 children ages 14-2. Family and friends are planning to make sure they can live the most comfortable life possible. However, they need additional financial help with the extras that can make life easier for the family. They will be moving out of the Muslim Quarter to Bet El so they will need a car, furnishings of the house and help with moving expenses. Supporters are making sure the children will be clothed properly and that the younger children can get toys and gifts to help ease the pain of the loss of their father.

Hasno Family
Avraham Hasno and his family live in Kiryat Arba. Avraham was driving home and was lured out of his car by a rock ambush, at which point an Arab truck driver ran him over and killed him. At first it was declared an accident but video footage, horrible that it is, clearly shows the intentional motive of the attack, that the Arab driver ran over him twice. The driver was released by the Palestinian police. After a few weeks of investigation, the government officially declared it a terrorist attack. Avraham was 54 years old at the time of his murder. The family's financial situation is dire. Avraham worked as a cook in the Yeshiva in Otniel and his wife worked there as well, as a cleaning woman, just to be able to make ends meet. They have seven children; three are married. One of them has a very ill child with a rare disease and the parents, Avraham and Ruth, were helping to support them as well. The family was in debt before this tragedy happened, since as you can imagine, a cleaner and cook in a Yeshiva do not make much money. The family is beloved by everyone and always had an open house. But they are in desperate need of financial help.
